Day 6: Colour Alchemy – The Magic of Hues
Date: Monday, October 7th, 2024
Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Location: The Cardboard Castle, 15 Chaffinch Road, Hobsonville Point
Instructor: Terri Papagiannis

Programme Overview:

Welcome to Colour Alchemy – The Magic of Hues! Today, children will become color scientists as they explore the magic of mixing and blending colors. We’ll experiment with different techniques, including Western paper marbling, where swirling inks create mesmerizing, colorful patterns on paper. Through hands-on projects, children will learn how to mix colors, understand color relationships, and explore how light interacts with hues. Inspired by artists like Mark Rothko, known for his bold, atmospheric color fields, this day will focus on creating mood and emotion through color. After a morning of colorful experimentation, we’ll take a break for a picnic lunch at Hobsonville Point Waterpark, located just steps from the studio. In the afternoon, we’ll resume art making with either a collaborative project where everyone contributes to a large artwork or allow for free-choice time, encouraging individual exploration. With a small class size of 8-10 children, each young artist will receive personalized attention to fully express their creativity.

What to Bring:

  • Packed morning tea and lunch

  • Appropriate outdoor clothing

  • Water bottle

  • Clothes that can get messy

Pricing:

$85 for the full day, including all materials.
